Development, manufacturing and quality assurance
Development, manufacturing and quality assurance
GHUSS distribution boards originated from years of practical experience with electrical installations. That experience forms the basis of our product development approach: looking at what can be improved in practice and subsequently translating this into engineering and production.
We develop and manufacture the current generation of GHUSS distribution boards ourselves. Production takes place in our own factory, using our own production lines, moulds and production staff. This gives us direct control over the entire process: from the initial design and engineering through to production, quality control and ongoing product development.
Designed with real-world installation experience in mind
GHUSS was developed in response to practical needs.
Years of installing, replacing and extending consumer units gave us a clear idea of how we believe a modern consumer unit should be designed.
This hands-on experience ultimately served as the starting point for developing our own consumer unit system.
Rather than relying solely on existing solutions, we developed the design from the ground up around real-world installation needs, then engineered it for production.
A key part of this product development is protected by a Dutch patent for the modular consumer-unit concept.
From design to in-house production
An important part of our product development is the direct connection between engineering and production.
The current GHUSS consumer units are manufactured in our own factory. We use moulds developed specifically for our consumer units and our own production lines.
This gives us direct control over factors including dimensions, construction, component fit, finish and the repeatability of the production process.
Experiences from production and practical use can also be fed directly back into development. When opportunities for improvement emerge, they can be incorporated into further product development.
That short link between development and production is important to us. A product is not finished when the first production run comes off the line.
In-house moulds and production equipment
For plastic products, a significant part of the final construction is determined during the engineering and development of the production moulds.
We use our own moulds for the current GHUSS consumer units, specifically developed for our products.
From engineering and prototyping to mould development and series production, it all forms one continuous development process.
Because we own our production equipment, we can also develop future product generations and new versions from the same technical foundation.
Manufactured by our own team
The production organization is also part of GHUSS.
The distribution boards are manufactured on our own production lines by our in-house production team. This keeps product development and manufacturing closely connected, allowing feedback from the production process to be shared directly.
This helps us maintain consistent production and continue to improve our products and manufacturing processes.
Quality control during production
A good product design alone is not sufficient. The design must also be realized consistently during series production.
That is why quality control is an integral part of our production process.
During production, we check dimensions, component fit, mechanical construction, assembly and finish, among other things.
Because production and product development are integrated within the same organisation, any issues or opportunities for improvement can be fed directly back to engineering and production.
This creates a continuous feedback loop between product development, manufacturing and quality control.
Building on earlier product development
Today’s GHUSS consumer units are the result of continued development across several product generations.
An earlier generation of the modular consumer unit concept was independently tested to IEC 62208. The technical knowledge, practical experience and insights gained from earlier product development have been incorporated into the development of the current generation.
GHUSS builds on a development journey that began before the current product generation.
Patented product development
A key part of the technical development behind GHUSS is protected by a Dutch patent.
The patented modular distribution board concept forms one of the technical foundations upon which the system is further developed.
The patent is not an end in itself. Product development is an ongoing process, allowing future generations to be improved further and adapted to changing electrical installations.
This product development has also attracted attention beyond GHUSS. The Dutch trade platform EngineersOnline published an article about the development of our modular consumer unit. At GHUSS, we continue to develop new innovations for the future.
From prototype to mass production
There are many development stages between an initial technical idea and a product that can be manufactured in larger quantities.
A design must be engineered, prototypes must be evaluated, and ultimately production moulds and processes must be developed so the product can be manufactured consistently.
That’s exactly why we believe it’s important to keep engineering and production closely connected.
The knowledge gained during series production can be applied to future designs. In turn, engineering changes can be passed directly to production.
Technical documentation for each product
The individual product pages therefore list dimensions, material types, technical material properties, module capacity and other relevant product specifications.
Always developing
Electrical installations continue to evolve, and so do the requirements for electrical products.
That is why we see product development as an ongoing process.
Combining years of installation experience with in-house engineering, our own moulds and production lines, and manufacturing in our own factory allows us to put new insights directly to use in further product development.
From hands-on experience to engineering, and from in-house production back to development. That’s how we keep developing GHUSS.
