GHUSS 2x6-module distribution board

GHUSS consumer unit, 2x6 modules

The GHUSS 2x6-module consumer unit is designed for situations where extra module space is needed, but space in the meter cupboard is limited. With two rows of six modules, the unit has a total of 12 module spaces while keeping the enclosure relatively narrow.

This version is particularly suitable as an extension unit or modular unit next to an existing consumer unit. The 2x6 version is a practical solution when a wider 12-module unit will not fit, but six additional modules are not enough.

12 modules in a slim design

The key feature of the 2x6 version is that its 12 available module spaces are split across two rows. This makes the enclosure narrower than a traditional layout with 12 modules in a single row.

This makes the cabinet particularly suitable for narrow meter cabinets and other cramped installation spaces where extra component space is required. For the same reason, the current product page specifically positions this version for situations where a standard wide distribution board is less practical.

Ideal as an expansion board

The GHUSS 2x6-module distribution board is ideal as an expansion board alongside an existing distribution board.

If the existing consumer unit is full, expansion doesn’t always mean replacing the entire enclosure. The 2x6 version provides 12 additional module spaces in a compact enclosure.

This makes this version interesting when multiple additional components need to be placed together, but there is limited free wall space available.

Suitable for sustainability

Upgrading a home to make it more energy-efficient often requires additional circuits and protective devices. This may include installing solar panels, an EV charger or a heat pump.

Free space is often limited, especially in existing meter cabinets. The GHUSS 2x6 module distribution board can then be installed as an additional module cabinet alongside the existing installation and, with 12 module positions, offers significantly more expansion space than a compact 6-module cabinet. The existing GHUSS page also lists solar panels, charging stations, and heat pumps as important applications.

Practical for renovations and tight spaces

In renovation projects, it is often necessary to work within the existing dimensions of the meter cabinet. In such cases, there is not always sufficient width available to place a larger cabinet next to the existing distribution board.

The vertical 2x6 layout makes more efficient use of the available space: greater module capacity without taking up unnecessary width. This makes it particularly practical for renovations, existing homes and utility rooms where available mounting space is limited.

Room to work neatly

The two-row layout allows components to be arranged neatly throughout the unit. This gives the electrician more options for positioning circuits, protective devices and other components.

This also keeps any new section of the installation neatly grouped together when you expand it.

Neater installations, easier extensions

By placing additional components in a separate expansion cabinet, the electrical installation remains organized.

Cables and components can be neatly grouped and remain accessible for maintenance or future modifications. When the installation is expanded, it is immediately clear which components belong to the additional section.

When should you choose 2x6 modules?

The 2x6-module version is especially useful when you need 12 module spaces but have limited horizontal space.

While the 6-module enclosure is suitable for smaller expansions and the standard 12-module enclosure takes up more width, the 2x6 version combines the capacity of 12 modules with a narrower design.

Suitable for various applications

The GHUSS 2x6 module distribution board can be used as, among other things:

  • extension unit next to an existing consumer unit
  • consumer unit in a narrow meter cupboard
  • expansion for solar panels
  • expansion for an EV charger
  • extension for a heat pump
  • extension for electric cooking
  • cabinet for additional circuits and protections
  • the solution for renovation projects
  • distribution cabinet in technical rooms
  • compact distribution board

Modular design

GHUSS consumer units are designed as a modular system. The 2x6-module version meets a specific need: creating as much usable module space as possible when width is limited.

This makes this model particularly suitable for neatly and compactly expanding an existing electrical installation without having to replace the entire distribution board.
